Finding the academic blogging community

For many, blogs are a fantastic way to keep up to date with subjects of interest. The blogosphere is becoming an increasingly important place for academics to disseminate information and to discuss issues. For seasoned bloggers this is by no means news, but for people taking their fist steps into blogging it can initially be difficult to find blogs of interest.

At the bottom of this post is a (non exhaustive) list of places where you can find blogs on different academic subjects. Michael Barton gives some excellent advice about using tools such as Postgenomic to find science related blog posts.

Like most folks looking for blogs on any subject I usually start with Technorati and Google (where else!). More recently I’ve been getting tips and recommendations about topics of interest from people I follow on Twitter; by following links that people post and by searching for suitable people to follow using Twitter search sites like Summarize.

I’d be interested to hear about other peoples methods for finding posts in their interest areas.

Anyway here’s the list…
